The Great Ruaha River is the lifeline of the Park and Ruaha River Lodge offers the privilege of a private riverside 'banda' designed to blend seamlessly into the surroundings.

The stone and thatch rooms have minimal impact on the environment and game viewing from your veranda is a relaxing and enthralling option. We offer 20 rooms with either twin beds or a double bed each and the en-suite bathrooms have showers, toilets and wash basins with solar-heated water. Additional beds can be added and the rooms are protected with mosquito gauze on the windows. Each banda also has a large veranda equipped with a couple of directors chairs.

Drinking water and early morning tea and coffee is available and guests can order tea or coffee anytime at no extra charge. A complimentary laundry service is provided. It is recommended that guests consult their doctors about malaria before travelling.

One of the two main lounge and dining areas at Ruaha River Lodge is under a large thatched roof with open sides, reed walls at the back and views across the river. A second lounge/dining area, similar in style, is an impressive structure built on top of a high kopje, with spectacular views across the river and the park. Although the walk up is quite demanding, it's well worth the effort, for this is a lovely place to have a spot of lunch or relax with a book. The food is prepared from fresh produce from our Highland Farm.

Have drinks around a campfire on the river bank, or high up in the elevated bar with its spectacular views up and down the river - the choice is yours. The food is prepared from fresh produce from our Highland Farm and a full English breakfast is complemented by freshly baked cinnamon bread, fresh fruit and tea and coffee. Lunch is a cold buffet with a selection of meats, pastries or pizzas and salads, followed by a dessert. Dinner is a three-course meal with a vegetarian option. Decaffeinated coffee is not readily available in Tanzania, so if required it is preferable to bring some with you.

Enjoy morning and afternoon safari drives in 4x4 vehicles, though you can also head out for the whole day with a packed lunch for deeper exploration.

Ruaha River Lodge is an attractive camp with a natural feel and, given its size, manages to remain quite personal and in touch with its surroundings. For those looking for a camp that has a good level of comfort, great views and a moderate price tag, this would be a good choice
